Petition to condemn AP Government's brutal firing on land-rights protestors.
Background:
Police firing on the protestors at Mudigonda, Khammam district of Andhra Pradesh resulted in the killing of 8 land-rights movement protestors, including one woman, and several others injured on Saturday, July 28th.
The incident took place when police opened fire on protestors who were demanding land reforms in the district. According to official sources, six persons died on the spot and two others in hospital. The bullet injuries were all above waist level showing that the police did not follow the norm of firing below the waistline while controlling the crowd.

We condemn the police firing on 28th July in Modugonda, Andhra Pradesh that led to the death of 8 people. Such disproportionate and brutal use of lethal force by the State undermines the democratic foundations of our country and peoples' right to protest against injustice.
Our sympathies are with the deceased, injured and the families.
We strongly demand that:
1. An open and fair investigation of the incident, the results of which should be made public within a specified period of time.
2. Families of the victims are properly rehabilitated immediately.
3. Demands of the land-rights protestors be properly heard and considered.
