The festival of Lohri is celebrated with all the vigor and enthusiasm in North India on the 13th of January every year. It signifies the end of the winter season in the month of Poh or Magh, a day before the festival of Makar Sankranti.

The origin of the Lohri can be traced back to the tale of Dulla Bhatti. By the end of the first week of January, small groups of boys ring the doorbell of houses and start chanting the Lohri songs related to Dulla Bhatti.
