Gas Water Heaters Are Safe & Very Economical
Install Gas Water Heaters To Avoid Discom Goondas Visit. You can also heat water on gas stoves. You can opt for lower connected load.
PCR has responded to few paras of my massage about gas water heaters.
1. Gas Water Heaters are safer than Gas Stoves because valves of the GWH are operated by electric supply. Consumers had to switch on power before GWH is operated when tap is opened to release water in to buckets. GWH shuts immediately tap is closed and when consumer switches of the electric power it will not open gas again until consumer switched on the electric supply.
In gas stove there are no automatic features. Boiling milk could blow out flame and gas continues to ooze out until consumer switches of the valve. Even a child can switch on the gas stove.
Like LPG stove Gas Water Heaters cause least pollution for its very high efficiency. Approximately 100 grams of LPG gives one Kwh heat that is equivalent electricity produced by burning 700 grams of coal on an average in a thermal plant.
This implies reduction in pollution and in fact a GWH consumes 10 grams per 5 liter of warm water- for 20 liters to 50 liters water a day use will consume 40 grams to 100 grams of gas that will cost 0.84p to Rs.2.10p. This is much less than normal household consumption.
2. The advantage with GWH is its very high rate of hot water delivery- 5 liters per minute. So practically a GHW can supply 300 liters of water per hour.
3. This 12 times storage capacity of Electric Geysers. Thus a GWH that cost just Rs.2000/- can provide as much water very cheaply as 4-5 Electric Geysers in all baths and kitchen together costing Rs.15,000/- plus cost of wiring/ cost of electric connection.
4. One GWH will need gas pipe to GWH only. Hot water can be distributed that will need a 10 mm metal tube connection, to connect a kitchen and a bath.
5. Solar water heaters cost Rs.23,000/-. I actually participated in Delhi Special Exhibition.
6. Dicoms in Delhi had already “Extorted Rs. 1000 Crores From Just 1% Consumers Over And Above Normal Billing”. There is Goonda Raj of Discoms. They even threaten Justice JD Kapoor President of State Commission.
Discoms always charge for connected load. It could be demand charges or fixed charges or minimum charges. Worst is when a consumer with 10 kilowatt load could expect 10 times more “Supplementary Bills” than a 1 kw load. Don’t be misled by Rao’s observation.
I have just witnessed a consumer was billed Rs.19 crores for shut down factory not consuming electricity at Appellate Tribunal Hearings last week.
7. Consumers in Mayur Vihar were charged Rs.2 lac to Rs.5 lac. I have given you links to BEST of Mumbai the most expensive real estate in India. Average billing of domestic consumers is less than 200 units per month. This one paragraph is enough to prove BRPL/BYPL/NDPL are top goondas and Pradip Nandrajog and Sanjay Krishan Kaul are their touts in judiciary.
8. Water in Desert Coolers be drained completely twice a month.
9. Local batteries last only two years, branded Prestolite lasts 5-7 year and Exide battery for invertors could last up to 10 years. Consumers should avoid deep discharge, top up water regularly and inverter must be kept in cool place. Life of battery depends on ambient temperature- higher temperature lowers service life of a battery.
10. Invertors these days are available in costly sine wave or less costly modified sine wave types both work well for lighting and fans and for normal use including home computers. But in office use where computers and software cost in lacs it is definitely advantageous to have sine wave invertors.
11. Invertors are set to supply fixed voltage say 230V. Every time it will give same voltage subject to connected load. Switching of invertors will mostly increase voltage to appliances but in some cases it will be less when large transformer is provided near to the consumer in off peak hours.

Dear Ravinder Singh jee,
Thanks.
1) In India LPG is subsidised by the govt.
In electric geysers, the still air between the water container and the outer casing is itself a bad conductor. The asbestos wool stuffed between the two containers reduces the convection currents of that air.
In many discoms, the power tariff does not have charges for connected load.- only domestic single phase or 3-phase and telescopic tariff for energy consumed.
If the gas water heater is located in the kitchen, hot water pipe is to be run from it to the bathrooms. If the gas water heater is located in the bathroom, a gas pipe is to run from the cylinder to the gas water heater in the bathroom or a separate cylinder is to be kept with each gas water heater.
In crowded urban localities, the cumulative effect of using many gas water heaters will have its own pollution effect.
Safety and convenience may over ride the cost benefits.
Solar water heaters now made mandatory for big complexes in some cities may be a better alternative.
Telephone and such other communication service providers have the meters and controls at their end. But discons have the meters in the premises of consumers and have no control except by their physical visit to the consumer premises. Penalty levied on a consumer resorting to theft of energy is not to be considered as income of the discom.
Discoms also should not feel that penalty provisions in the regulations are meant for extraction of money from their consumers. Discons do not generally implicate consumers with stuck up meters.
2) Draining of water periodically from the air cooler is good to avoid formation of fungus and gathering of mosquitoes. Also, in urban multi storied localities, it is better to draw air from the sides also rather than depending solely on ceiling fans.
3) The problem with the lead acid cells is the acid. If not handled carefully, it damages marble flooring, clothes etc. These cells have a life of 10 years.
4) With low voltage, the motors draw heavy current and get heated up. Electronic regulators act by switching on and off during each cycle. This results in production of harmonics (multiples of 50 Hz) which heat up the fan motor with enhanced eddy current and hysterysis losses.
The invertor voltage, when it is on can be higher than the normal supply voltage. Also, its wave form is not as good (sinusoidal) as that from the mains. That is why the fan noise when running on invertor is different from that when on mains supply
